Confused - I have a 2004 F-350, Laramie, 4X4, SRW, Torqshift 5-spd automatic, 3.73 rear axle. I am interested in purchasing a fifthwheel and would like to know the towing capacity of my truck. The Ford Owners Manual rates the max trailer weight at 12,700. I used the Ford Interactive Towing link and the max loaded trailer weight rates out as 15,600 lbs. The intellichoice.com site gives the max towing capacity as 13,800. Which is right?
The owners manual if it breaks tow capaicity by your configuration should be correct. Trailer capicities dramaticly went up in 2005. If you take the max combined weight of the truck and trailer called, GCWR and subtract the empty weight of your truck (curb weight)this should give you your maximum weight. I'm showing 12,700#'s for a 04 F350 SRW crew cab 4x4 diesel in the 2004 Ford RV & Trailer Towing Guide.
