My old truck just died on me. An old GMC High Sierra, she was nice but I could of taken better care of her. I'm looking ot get a new pick-up and a friend sent me some pictures of a new Tundra. A buddy of mine has an old Tacoma and swears by it. I'm just not so sure. I think I;'d like to stick to a Chev.
thanks

Sorry, but I guess what I'm asking is I am making a mistake getting a grocery getter like the tundra?

Rancher... It all depends on what your use is. Getting groceries in town ... go for the Tundra. Hauling that Deere 310 backhoe to dig around the stock tank... forget the Tundra.

Only you can make the choice. Unless you share some more about how you'll use the truck

Thanks - I'm looking for a good all round truck. My other option would be an F150. I don't think I need to spend the money for a superduty. And I only will once I do. I think the tundra has just over 10 thousand lb tow capacity.
Thing is Ford and Chev have been around for a long time and I trust what they can do.
The ranch's not that big, 120 acres.

One thing to remember with full size trucks, a 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton truck with a gas engine are almost the same price. It's the diesel option that seperates them $5000. Is some cases the 3/4 ton (F250, HD2500)is a better choice with higher tow ratings because of the frame, springs, axles etc. And with the Ford, the F250 gas version has the same heavy duty auto tranny as the diesel.

As an all around truck, the Toyota has a well deserved reputation for quality. I hate to admit it, but Toyota has eaten the big three's lunch. Standing pat only lets the competition get you from behind. Ford & GM could have been competitive, They did well enough in Europe but they didn't look toward their own market in the 70's.

Only the 3/4 & one ton trucks have the home team advantage.

Toyota is serious about quality as Hosspuller said. They announced today a 6 month delay in new product launches to double check quality. In Japan, Toyota has gotten in trouble lately with some coverups in quality rating and heads are rolling. I'm sure they will get back on track. I've heard the new bigger Tundra won't be availible until February.
