I currently have a 2003 Chevy 2500HD diesel short bed. I have used it to tow my enclosed snowmobile trailer, a goose neck horse trailer, a two place trailer and a 5th wheel toy hauler. My problem is the short bed. With the 5th wheel, there isn't much room and it makes nervous that I will hit the cab of the truck. I am looking at upgrading my toy hauler to a triple axle one, which means I am looking at upgrading my truck to a 1 ton long bed diesel.
I have read that Ford has the best tow rating in it's class but that GMC has the most comfort. I am just looking for honest opinions from truck owners. Thanks 2003 Chevy 2500HD Possibly purchasing 2007 Ford 3500 |

Looks like now is a great time to buy any large vehicle.
But, if you need large, only large will do. The GM Duramax has been well praised in my circles. Teamed to the Allison Transmission, it's hard to beat. Ford's 6.0 diesel has been plagued with problems as the forum post counts show. |
