I read in Motor Trends "Truck Trend" magazine that the 2008 Heavy Duty Silverado's may get the 6.2 LTR 403 Hp V8 gas engine that has 417 ft lebs of torque. Has anyone else heard of this? I hope that it is true, I would opt for that in my next truck.

That engine with the 6speed auto 6L90 is do out as a 2008.5 model after the first of the year. The 6.0L with the 6speed does well. The Denali 6.2L engine would be ausum. See how well it did against the diesels in our shootout, http://mrtruck.net/shootout.htm
