we are looking at buying a 5th wheel 24 ft camper. my truck is a ford 2005 1/2 ton supercrew fx-4 - 5.4 triton v-8 shortbox 7200 gvrw 3.55 gears. is the only problem is that the box is short? is it ok with a slider hitch or ext pin box if we stay within the gvwr and the gcwr.? the box is a 3" taller so will that be a prob too?
thanks
Jack

Yeah Ford didn't make it easy to tow with anything other than a bumper trailer. Popup has 5th wheel extenders at http://mrtruck.net/popuprv.htm but yes the 3 inch taller box sides makes it tougher yet. And then as 4x4 your tailgate is at 59 inches from the ground so you won't have much bed rail clearance for a 5th wheel, which is lower than a gooseneck anyway. So do a lot of measuring.
