hello, i have a 94 GMC sierra project truck. i have heard the raves about the 327 that chevy is making now and was wondering if it is possible to put that in my rig. i like the power to wieght ratio and the efficiency. also, they seem hard to find. am i missing something here? any other suggestions on engines?
thanks, murph

Murph,

Those engines are good on horsepower in stock form. You could get one in your '94, but it would take some major modifications.

The new 5.3 is a computer controlled engine and transmission setup, so you'd have to find the computer for the new engine and get someone to make a wiring harness that would fit your '94.

The mounts for engine and transmission will be different. You'll also have to put in a higher volume fuel pump. With a '94, I'm not sure if your gauge cluster is linked to the electronics or not. If so, this will require more computer work to change it or get it to match with some new gauges/cluster.

People I know who get mods for their trucks in the early-mid nineties usually do a major change, such as small to big block, and often go for modern carburetor setups to get the big performance. Mods can be made to the truck you have, depending on what engine is in it now.
