We're leaving the big city and moving out to 5 acres in the country. We would like to buy two horses. I will need a horse trailer and a pickup truck.

Question: What should the towing capacity be? Can a Toyota Tacoma do the job or should I get a V-8 Tundra?

It needs to be a 4x4

Other makes/models?

I don't need a new truck, but I don't want one with a history of service problems. Are Fords and Chevy's well built?

Thank you for your sage advice and experienced feedback!

First decision is to figure out how much your horses, trailer, and other equipment that you'll bring with you weigh...that will determine how much strength you need to buy in a truck.

Chevrolets and Fords are both well built. Many people will argue over which is better...the quintessential argument of many truck fans, but both ARE solid vehicles.
