Were these engines used around 90-93 bad ones, or were they just lower on power than the newer Power Stroke Turbos? I've driven U-Hauls locally with that engine, but nothing long haul or with much load up a grade to know. Anyone have one or know much, I'd appreciate it.

There are a lot of those diesels still running in ambulances around the country. This was pre-Power Stroke so they a pre-combustion chamber instead of direct injection. The first turbo came out in 93. Power Stroke in 94.5 had more power but wasn't intercooled until 1999.

I drive a 1989 f250 4x4 7.3 diesel with the international motor in it. I love that motor it is one of best ones ford made thats what i think!! It is a very stong motor and dependable one too. the motor stronger than the transmission has been rebuilt twice now.it has over 162,000 miles on it still runs great. They can have 250,000 miles on them before they need any work done to them.
