Every time I turn the wheels all the way until they can't turn anymore my truck makes a schreeching sound.

This is when the power steering has reached the limit of travel ? Right?

There are two explanations.
1: You're hearing the hydraulic pressure relief valve venting
2: You're hearing the belt driving the power steering pump slipping. This seems likely since you've said "schreeching"

Your call ... If the belt is old and hard, replace it. Otherwise check the belt tension.

Second thought.... on an 83 vintage truck... the belts are old too... replace them all as a preventive meaure. You might have to take a couple of belts off to replace the PS pump belt. If so, half the labor and trouble is already done in replacing the belts. New V-belts are relatively cheap insurance
