I have a lance squire 8000 10'9" camper that I am putting on my new f-350 crew cab long bed 4X4 with the FX4 package and camper package. I was hauling this camper with a 1994 f-250 hd with firestone air bags. Do I need to put airbags on my new truck or will it not be necessary do to the upgrading to a one ton and also heavier 4X4 suspension.
Hi Ed, in 99 in the all new Super Duty model, Ford stretched the rear leaf springs 3 inches. This made a softer empty ride, but it gives you more wheel travel, thus more lean on curves and more squat. This will be more noticable with a slide in camper. The factory camper package does give you the top overload spring and rear staiblizer which will help. But for campers you still need the air bag or what I recommend is SuperSprings, my review at, http://mrtruck.net/springs.htm

I had a 2003 Starcraft 12” camper! It was on a 2000 F350 1 ton crew cab Ford and I had to put Firestone Air Springs on it because in wondered all over the road! Especially if it was windy! I think I would have dually’s if possible for any Camper over 11 feet! TJO
