I'm going to buy either and 2006 F350 dually or a F450 does anyone know the mileage these 2 trucks get with a 5000 pound camper in the bed and also what it gets when the camper is off. e-mail me at jjmmedwards@msn.com
Ford has the widest range of fuel mileage of the big 3 diesels. Don't know why, but truck in the same assembly line can all be different. The F350 with the Tow Boss package and 4.30 rear axle ratio and the F450 with 4.30 will get very close to the same mileage. Loaded, none get great but should be 12 to 14, empty could be 14 to 18. Duals cause mileage drag as does the axle ratio. In the F350 you can get the 3.73 ratio which would improve mpg but lower towing capacity.

I have a '99 F-350 DRW with a 4.10 rear axle ratio. I just got the truck serviced for 90K miles. My digital readout tells me that I went from an average of 12mpg to 14 mpg. Yippee!
