We are ready to order a 2008 350 6.4 diesel. We pull a 23 ft 8ft wide gooseneck horse trailor.Which package do we need ? the trailor pkg, heavy suspension pkg, camper pkg, snowplow pkg? One or all of above. Gets confusing. We are going to get a 4x4 dually with 4.10 limited slip rear end.We will usse the truck mainly for pulling the trailor. Sure would appreciate advice. Thank you

Get the trailer package, so it's prewired for a brake controller and trailer plug at the rear bumper and the camper package has the top overload spring, rear anti-sway bar. With the tow boss package and 4.30 rear axle, has the most towing rating for the one ton. Get the Ford RV and Trailer Towing Guide. It will show the packages and tow/payload ratings.

Thanks for info. One more question, we drove across the scales and steer axle wt is 9300lb,drive axle wt is 9460 lb trailor axle wt 440lb. Gross wt 19,200lb. This is pulling with a 1997f 250hd,7.3 diesel 4x4 single cab. Trailor 23ft 8ft wide was fully loaded with lq, 2 horses and only missing about 300lb of hay we usually carry in hay rack. So do we still need the tow boss pkg? Or can we get by with the camper pkg with the 350dually, 4.10 rear end? Thanks so much for your help.

I can't remember 97, but I don't think your Gross Combined Weight Rating was 20K, that started in 99, then in 2005 they raised it to 23k and I think 06 raised it to 23.5K. But with the tow boss package with the 4.30 axle ratio, it went to 26k. So your present truck with a 19k GCWR now, going to the F350 with 4.10 sill gives you another 3500 lbs to grow. This is looking at the 07 Ford RV and Trailer Towing Guide. Get the 08 guide, if it's availble or ask them to look it up at the dealership.

We went to dealer today to order our f350 diesel dually 4x4. Seems the new Fx4 has a lot of the options standard. Is that the only difference or is it a little better truck? We pull a lot on highways as well as a lot of gravel as we trail ride and camp. Which tire is better all terrain or regular tires?Sure appreciate the help.

It's just an option package. It used to be just Rancho shocks and skid plates for the FX4. Same truck just different options.
