We have a 2001, F350 Super Duty, Diesel 7.3L, 1-ton, SRW Extended Cab truck and are trying to determine how much slide in camper weight we can carry. The GVWR on the door is 9900#. The truck with fuel and passengers is 7900#. Does that mean we can only carry 2000# max? Please help?!?!?!

Basically... the answer is yes... only 2000#. The GVWR is the max weight of the truck as designed by Ford. Further, the load has to be distributed so the axles are not overloaded too. The door plate will have the axle ratings.
I would question the 7900# that you say the truck weighs. Unless you have a lot of add-ons it seems very high.

Thanks for the quick response. We are going to need to have the truck reweighed.....makes you wonder just how accurate the scales at truck stops really are, however I know they are set up for semis, so that may be the error. At any rate, thanks for your help.
