I,m in a quandry. Two months ago I purchased a 04 F250. Real nice truck, low miles, everything that I needed. Threw a hitch in it and it pulls around my 4 horse like it's not there. Here's the sticky part! I've got the opportunity to purchase an 08 F350 for about $9600 under sticker. SuperCab,Dually,Diesel, rear step, running boards.FX4 4X4 Camper pkg, Capn chairs, leather, powerfold mirrors, 2 tone paint, the works. It has 70 miles on it and I've put over half of them on it myself. The wife says do what I want. I just don't know if I can take(mentally) the tradein hit that I'm going to experience. What's your opinion?

We have reviews on this website about the 2008 Power Stroke and I'd wait a year. Ford hurt it's reputation with slow fixes on the 6.0L PS

I'd go for the 08! I think the new engine is much better than the 6.0 liter. So far we've seen only a couple of minor recalls and some minor general repairs on this engine. By this time in 2003, we were becoming pros at replacing engines. Even if the 04 runs like a champ, the resale is still going to be lower due to the engine, it just has a very bad reputation. Plus, you'd be stepping up to an F350 Dually which will haul that trailer better than the F250.

Well, I went ahead and bought it, and I love it! I need to throw a hitch in it and see how it pulls our new trailer. It sure looks good parked next to it. Thanks for your opinions. The wife loves it also, which is"REAL IMPORTANT"

I spent a lot of time on this site and getting help from you all before we traded our 1997 F250 4x4 powerstroke diesel in on a 2008 F350 4x4 dually diesel in May. We pull a 23ft gooseneck horse trailor fully loaded for six weeks camping to Colo. The truck did awesome and pulled like a champ. The tow haul worked great. Before we were going up the mtn 5mph and coming down 100 mph. Ha Knock wood the truck has done great and we are really happy with it. The only thing is all the fibreglass on the body instead of metal. Wont take much of a bump to mess it up. And having to get under it once a month to manually empty water out of the fuel line. It has been a great truck so far. Thanks for all the info and help.
Congradulations, draining the water is a whole lot easier than the 6.0L, now you have a spigot to just open and drain instead of a screw you had to take out.

Well it's been 7 months since I bought the new truck and I have to say, that I love it! It hauls great and rides so smooth for a heavy truck. My wife enjoys hauling with it as well, she just got back from a 300 mile trip all by herself. The engine is a beast. Not the greatest in the MPG category ( 13-13.5), but we didn't buy it for the mileage, we bought it to tow. We have quite a few different trailers and it tows everything the same. From the boat to the horse trailer or just pulling the flatbed with the tractor or round bales on it, it does a great job. Couldn't be happier.
