I recently bought a 2003 6.0 liter powerstroke f350. I really like the edge jucie modules and would like to put one in, but am afraid of all the problems i have heard of. if it was a 7.3 i would have put it in in a heartbeat. SO my question is do i take the chance of putting it in? i Would be the only drive besides my dad and would have it set to keep the EGTs down. It already has a 4 in exhuast on it with just a muffler. no cataylic converter. If i shouldnt, are theer any more options besides that to add power to it? thanks

I've got a 06 Power Stroke. My opinion of this touchy engine is that the Superchips is the safest mod for turning up power electronicly. I've tried others and have blown the top off injectors and replaced many Injector Pressure Control Modules. Juice is great for GM, Dodge and the 7.3L PS, but I think it can be too much for the 6.0L PS. I have the 4" exhaust and aFe CAI too.

Superchips is owned by the same company as Edge. Superchips is a downloader for power. You download what power program you want. With Edge you plug it in to the engine computer and change settings. http://mrtruck.net/superchips.htm

Also one other thing. It has an auto tranny. I prefer the manual but htis came along at the right price. If the tranny were to go out or i would rather have a manual, is there a posible way to get it converted to a manual? if so any ideas on the cost of it? thanks

It won't be easy, could be different length of rear drive shaft, adding different pedals and then there's all that computer sensors that control the tranny to the engine. I'd like to do the opposite. I have a manual and want the auto. The 6-speed manual from Germany (same as GM) is a good tranny, but the ratios are bad unless you have a 4.10 rear axle. In low gear it's too slow and in 2nd labled first is too high. Even too high when empty. When towing a trailer sometimes I can start in 2nd and if slight hill, have to start in low. And I have chips, 4" exhaust and CAI air. Ford used to be the low rpm torque power but are now the highest rpm band. So power doesn't get good until 2000 rpm.

Last year GM quit offering a manual tranny on the 2500/3500 trucks. But of course they have the Allison.

See, i have a f-250 7.3 with the 6 speed and i like it alot..the gear pattern could be a little different but its ok. But for hauling, the stick is a must in my mind. Maybe i will look into it sometime, but if it did happen it wpuld probbaly be if the tranny went out. And the other day i heard that possibly all trucks were going to quit offering the manual sometiem soon. You heard anyhting bout that?

Manuals don't sell like they used to. So it's a natural progression to go to all auto's. With 6-speed auto's that have lockup torque converters in all gears and factory exhaust brakes, manuals will eventually go away just like in cars. As a journalist, I rearly get a manual truck from the press fleet. They don't think writers can shift. And between the cell phone, coffee and gps, maybe I can't.
