Just reading an old post and it surprised me:

"If you are only going to pull 10,000 #'s, a 3/4 ton will do."

See, I'm still working on an alternative to my 1/2 ton for pulling a car and trailer. Won't use the car and trailer for more than a few interstate trips during the summer--thinking I had to have a dually for that much weight. The trailer has brakes of its own, but it's only a bumper style hookup, not gooseneck. Headed from Indiana to California and back a few times. I'm one of those guys who doesn't want to be underpowered or not think of every last detail, but am I searching for too much truck trying to find a dually? Maybe I could replace the 1/2 with the puller and just have one truck!

Any experience out there? Would like to know what people know.

10,000#'s is a heavy bumper pull trailer. There use to be a large difference between how truck manufactures rated gooseneck/5th wheel towing capacity and conventional/bumper trailers. But now they are rated very close. Be sure to use a good weight distributing hitch.
