Hi!

I'm new to the trailering world and have a question...

I'm looking at straight load 2 Horse Gooseneck trailers and I keep finding that they seem to have 2 - 3500LB axles... Are these ratings for the total trailer weight?

Example:

If the trailer empty is 3950LB and I have two horses that are about
2800-2900LB (Friesian and a Warm blood) am I correct in saying that I
really would not have much weight left for the tack and such?

Thanks!

Hello Lem .. Welcome to the board.

The axle ratings are for each axel. So for the two axles you have a rating of 7,000 pounds. Be aware that the trailer axles have to be evenly loaded. So the trailer should be level rolling down the road. If your truck holds the trailer nose high, the back axle is more loaded than the front axle.

Also ...with a GN, about 20% of the trailer weight is on the truck.
So I figure you have 1500# of tack to go.
