Some of are friends that pull with gas trucks say they put chips in them and the trucks did alot better on the highway as far as keeping your speed up hills. but we haul with all deisels so that would have been my recomendation if your doing any long distance hauling. our smallest truck we have now is a 2500 chevy with a dmax and it will top out around 80 85 with 10000# behind it

I just bought a new 2008 FORD F-250 with a 5.4L V8 engine. I had discussed with the salesman exactly what I was going to tow, how big the trailer was and what it weighed empty (6,020Lbs). I was looking at the F-250 and he tried to steer me towards a new 2009 F-150. Eventually I decided that the F-150 was too small and he agreed that the F-250 SUPER DUTY would be "JUST WHAT I NEED". However, aftfer towing the trailer from CT to FL I totally disagree. I don't have the power to maintain even 65mph on I-95, big trucks blow me away and cause the trailer to fishtail. I bought a weight distributing hitch and sway bar AFTER the trip down to FL from CT but am concerned I'm going to ruin my new truck. What do I have to look forward to towing this trailer (weighs about 8,000lbs fully loaded). I installed a hitch and ball rated at 12,000Lbs ... Do I need yet another new truck?
Thanks
Steve
I'm afraid you did buy the wrong motor in your F250. That salesman took advantage of your lack of knowledge about towing heavy loads. He had a truck he couldn't sell so he palmed it off on you. Take it back and talk to the sales mgr. Tell him you want a diesel.
