hi, my 94 F250 4x4 is a bit too tall for my gooseneck trailer. what are my options, short of selling my truck, to pull this trailer safely without widening my bed on accident (happened on my 84 backing and turning up a hill!)

The supports for the overhead are about 2x8" steel exposed underneath (one welder mentioned notching supports...doesnt sound good to me)

What about flipping the axels under leaf springs, would that make trailer too top heavy?

It is a 16ft on the floor gooseneck, full living, 2 horse. about 7000# empty

Thanks, hate to get rid of either, but cant use as is unless stay on the flat lands!

There are several ways to raise your trailer and from what you have said that sounds like the best option. If your trailer has leaf springs you can get longer shackles or put the axles under the springs but that can sometimes be to much. If it has rubber torsion axles it is usually possible to block the trailer up the required height.

I had thought about putting axels under springs but have been warned not good idea...is it due to it being more top heavy? and if so, wouldnt longer shackles cause same problem.

Im starting to think best option is either get a flat bed or convert mine, but that is lots $$$ too!

thanks for info

With longer shackles you can raise the trailer just a couple of inches but if you put the axles under the springs it will raise the trailer quite a bit more and it will be set amount. with the longer shackles you can decide you much you want to raise the the trailer

Well you can make the actuall "neck" of the trailer taller using equivalent I-beam to what is already there, and just be sure to us adequate bracing. I had to do this to a company trailer after switching from an old chevy 5 ton truck to a newer international truck that sat about 8 inches higher

The neck appears to be adjustable, but it is already not running level. What are the problems if it is even higher in the front?
Thanks for all the ideas

If you raise the trailer too much, the front axle brakes can lock up.
