What is the general response to adding an additional rear leaf, using the superspring or helwig products? I have researched the cost of all three and I am curious if anyone has had any results from either. Also I am curious if exchanging the stock rear shocks would help also.
My goal is to reduce the distance that my rear end falls when my trailer rests on the ball. Currently my truck drops 4 inches with only the trailer. That does not include any gear in the bed or in the trailer. The good thing is that our truck is used only as a tow vehicle and stiffening the ride is not going to be a tragedy. Thanks |

I'll assume your truck is rated to carry the hitch weight and cargo. I've posted many times about heavy hitch weights and light duty vehicles. I won't rehash the old.
But... you may have a broken spring leaf. Does your unloaded truck lean to one side on level ground ? |

My trailer is a two horse aluminum Cherokee Super chief X tall and wide with D room. The Truck has 7k miles on it, it had better not have a broken leaf....
I am going to take the whole rig to the local scale to weigh the tongue, trailer and complete rig once the snow melts. I was hoping to reduce the drop as I will be adding fire wood, extra hay and camping gear shortly. |

I have SuperSrings on my truck. I like them better than air bags because they do more that just level out the load. The new trucks have longer leaf springs for a better ride. Ford just stretched them again for 08 Super Duty, 8 inches. They need support and control of the lear reaction. Most trucks now don't come with rear anti-sway bar. SuperSprings works like a torsion stabilzer to control how much and how fast your factory spring moves. And the are adjustable.

THANKS! I think I am going to run with the Super spring product.
What do you think about the stock shocks? Should I change those out also? My experience with airbags was not a good one. We love our new truck but want to be as safe as we can on the road. I am well aware of my tow capacity, GCVW, GAWR and GVWR. I have found a local material company that has offered to weigh my rig in as many different combinations for me as I can come up with for free he is also an advocate of trailer safety. Again thanks for the input. |

I'd keep the stock shocks until they wear out and then get Bilstiens

I have heard bilstein shocks mentioned a few times. My 05 Dodge Ram 1500 calls for the "Blue" model.
Why bilstein and not a product like a MONROE Load Leveler? Thanks for all the input. |

You'll see Bilstiens on Mercedes and the high end RV's. Koni would be second choice, then Monroe, Rancho, etc.
