I recently bought a used 2H BP trailer. I believe it is a Cotner model.

I have no title for it...trailer was bought in SC.

I cannot find the VIN# anywhere, not on the tongue, the inside.

Does anyone know anywhere else a VIN# would be stamped? If not, how do I go about titling a trailer with no VIN?

Hello Brooke, welcome to the forum.
If you're sure it's a Cotner, contact them. If the name plate is missing, perhaps they can identify it from the axle serial numbers.
Here's a link to their site. >> http://www.cotnertrailers.com/

Otherwise, You don't say what state you're in so I can't give you specific help...
But, registering it as a home built trailer is a possibility.

I live in NC, however I am a FL resident.

I sent Cotner an email...no reply yet, hopefully they will get back to me this week.

Where are the axle serial numbers?

On the axle... You'll have to crawl under the trailer and look. Bring a flashlight and a rag. Sometimes a metal plate, sometimes just a number stamped on the axle. A piece of chalk rubbed on the stamping then wiped might help to read the numbers.

Ok, a few more questions as my search yesterday revealed nothing.

Serial #'s on the back axle, or the front?

Any particular side?

Near a wheel, or in the middle?

Likely to be around the middle of the axle beam. (That's where my trailer's Dexter brand axle # is)

Did Cotner ever respond to you? A phone call should get you some kinda answer.
