Mr Truck, i am so glad you are here. I am getting conflicting reports from all avenues. Hope you can help.

I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 V8 ext cab 6ft bed step side. I used to trailer an all steel bumper pull 2 horse 4000 # rating empty. It did fine. Now i am looking into a 3 horse gooseneck. (installed the gooseneck already).

i found the sundowner stampede, the dealer said sure its light enough to pull with my truck ( i think it said 4,580 weight empty but can't confirm sundowner site doesn't give the weights)... what do you think? I will be trying to add a small living area in the front. I only haul max 2 horses at time. Or some goats.

have you ever reported on this particular trailer? seems to be the bottom of the sundowner line. But all i can afford. $15,300 for a 2004 but new.... seems a bit much? But used isn't much cheaper. Do you think used trailers keep their value? i am not finding too big a difference in cost from new to used, and curious why? it's obviously not like buy a car.

some say stick with a bumper pull. ? I need a stock type trailer since i have livestock and horses.

What other trailers out there that are 3h GN with small LQ that i could pull safely?

Sundowner dealer says stay away from square goosenecks. Because no matter the extender it will still not give me 90degree turns. True?

Did i waste my money on getting the gooseneck with the xtd cab and only 6ft bed? will the extender let me get that 90degrees?

One dealer, said i need to get the Timbren shocks? is that like your recommendation for super springs? or is this something i would need to add too.

I live in florida. terrain is mostly just little hills etc. Sometimes a few whoppers, but nothing like tennessee, etc.

Sorry for all the questions. but these questions when posed to others have an agenda and their answers are skewed accordingly...

thanks,
jo

Lots of questions. Is your engine a 5.3L or 5.7L, I haven't had time to look it up. hopefully you have a 3.73 axle ratio. A 20' gooseneck will tow better than most 16' bumper trailers because of wind resistance. A 6' wide will work the best and will have a narrow nose.

Where did you put the ball, above the rear axle or ahead of rear axle? I have't reviewed Sundowner yet. Just published the Hart review, Merhow is next and then Logan Coach.
