We have a 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD, 4WD longbox, gas engine. It has the 4.10 axle ratio.
We've been looking into getting a 3-horse GN trailer with living quarters. My SO wants the biggest and baddest trailer. I am more concerned with getting something that we can haul with the truck we have. I've been reassured that it will be able to pull 16000#, but I am not so sure about that. I think, tops, it might be able to take 12000#: trailer, horses, people, supplies. Even then, I wouldn't want to max it out. What do you say? |

Welcome to the forum ..
I say check your 2007 GM towing guide. My 2001 GM tow guide says a 2500hd 4x4 4.10 axle 8' bed with the 6.0 gas engine is rated to tow 10,500 pounds max. if extended cab, reduce to 10,200. Also the hitch weight can not cause the rear axle weight rating to be exceeded. The "biggest and baddest trailer" 3H LQ will squat your truck like a sick puppy. Also, who said your truck can tow 16,000 pounds? Edited ... I checked the GM site, The truck can tow a max of 16,500 IF all the conditions are met... The most important are the hitch weight, followed by Combined weight (total Loaded truck and Trailer weight) This message has been edited. Last edited by: Hosspuller, |
