I am considering a brenderup trailer. According to their info, these trailers can be hauled with any vehicle that is at least 120 hp and has a 93" wheelbase. I understand these are lighter weight and much lower tongue weight trailers. My question is: is what they say true? and how safe is it? I am considering a Honda Pilot for the tow vehicle.
Thanks
kat

Hi Kat ... Welcome to the forum.
The people that have Brenderups seem to like them alot. B-up's do have a lower tongue weight than conventional trailers.
The problem I have with the B-up is the weight. I just can't get around the weight of the B-up and the vehicle maker's towing weight specifications. You'll see that the various light tow vehicles as suggested by B-up have max tow weight limits far below the weight of a loaded B-up.

Here's a B-up review written by someone whose opinion, I trust. >>> Edited: See post below for link to article.

I have a nice Brenderup that I love and am pulling it currently with a Lexus RX300 with 160K miles on it. It is time to replace my tow vehicle, but I am not quite ready to put out $50K for another Lexus with the extras I want. Help me pick a new vehicle. I need 4WD or all wheel drive, good gas mileage, preferably hybrid, leather and heated seats, premium sound, tow package, good handling. I use it to commute 60 miles a day and pull my trailer on the weekends. Essentially, a Lexus but less expensive. What do you recommend?

i have a new Brenderup: my horses hate it. They refuse to load in it. Scramble when hauled. It is too narrow, not enough head room in front. The rubber mat is slick (when dry it is slippery and super slippery when wet). Inside the rubber mats are slick not to mention really thin so they catch on the hoof and curl up. It fits my small warmbloods (16 hands) but it is a tight fit for the 17 hand horses. it weighs over 2200 lbs. I would think twice about hauling with a less than full size vehicle. if you are hauling short distances on level ground maybe... but why take the risk.

Don't get one!!! Maybe it will be ok if you have small horses...16 hands. Rubber mats are slick (wet or dry)
