I currently own a 5 1/2 wide X 7' long stalls X 7'tall 2 horse straight load trailer. There is 31&1/2" between the wall and the center partition. My Quarter horse is 15.3 hands. He has a couple of inches of room on either side of the pads. He has been giving me some trouble loading lately. One person thought the trailer was too small, and yet another said it was fine. Once he is on, he rides quitely. This past year I have hauled him a lot over the same 15 miles of curvy roads. I feel he is, as much as anything tired of the curvy roads. I am right there with him, I'm tired of driving them! Reality....I'm not moving and he needs to suck it up! If I knew for sure a 6' wide trailer would cure his problems, I'd run right and buy one. I'm afraid if it's the roads, I will have spent my money in vain! What are the chances my trailer is too small?
Thanks, I do that already. He is one of those horses that don't care about food. He gives me the hardest time when we are leaving my friend's place. I'm sure that has to do with leaving his buddies. He is happier when my other horse goes with him. I can deal with his antics of loading ( He has a very "Busy" mind )if I know the trailer really isn't too small.
I get the idea that loading is a new problem... Since nothing in the trailer has changed, or did the trailer shrink in the rain? ... It must be the horse or you that makes him balk at loading. Can you think of anything that is different? Did you usually have a horse buddy when loading before? Are you stressed for time at your friend's place. Otherwise, refresher trailer loading lessons are in order... (lol)

Well it's a given that I'm part of the problem!!LOL!! This time I have been feeding him.....He is 5yr. and in the last 6 to 8 months grown a inch taller....The trailer is 7' ft. he is no where near that. My other horse is 15.1 and as wide as this one and doesn't have a problem. The other horse has not had the amount of trips on the curvy roads....I'm planning a trip in July just a couple of hours from home. He will have a buddy with him and straighter roads. We'll see how that goes....If he won't load back, I can always leave him and rent a cattle trailer to bring him home in!!! BUT...We are planning a trip to FL. in late Oct. I sure don't want to get 700 miles from home and him not load back! My husband would tell me to leave him there!!! NO trading trailers to bring him home in!!!! You konw, leaving him in Fl. might be the answer!!!LOL!!!
