Is it smart to have aluminum trailers acid washed Someone said it dulls the finish of the alumum and causes oxidation. Alot of the truck stops will acid wash your trailer really cheap and they come out looking really good. I just dont know if it has any effect on the aluminum? Thanks Tony

The acid eats away at the aluminum. That's why it looks good at first. But the aluminum surface is now exposed. It will eventuallu oxidize and look dull again. After acid washing a trailer, the aluminum must be coated with something to prevent further oxidation. Also, any acid that doesn't get washed away will continue to eat at all the exposed metal it can get to.

If you have any finished or painted surfaces on the horse trailer, I don't recommend an acid wash. Leave the acid washes to the big rigs.

I've used RV WASH & WAX from Camco. It's available at Wal-mart. Works very well and leaves a wax protection
